- 1 container with the fuel additive
- 1 empty container (for overflow)
- 1 filling tube with a plug and push-in fitting
- 1 overflow pipe
- 1 support tool for the overflow
Safety First:
Given the aggressive nature of the fuel additive, it is highly recommended to wear gloves and goggles during the operation.
Procedure:
- Begin by raising the vehicle.
- Remove the right rear wheel to gain access to the fuel additive tank.
- Locate and remove the closing cap of the quick coupling fitting for the “overflow” pipe (Connector A) on the fuel additive tank, ensuring you release the locking tab.
- Connect the “overflow” line from the fuel additive filling kit to this fitting.
- Next, remove the closing cap of the quick coupling fitting for the refueling pipe (Connector B) of the fuel additive tank, once again releasing the locking tab.
- Important Note: Keep the additive container of the refueling kit positioned lower than the vehicle’s fuel additive tank.
- Ensure that the refueling kit container valve is in the closed position.
- Connect the piping from the additive container to the refueling kit to the fuel additive tank’s refueling connection (Connector B).
- Attach the “overflow” (empty) container, the net, and the hook from the refueling kit underneath the vehicle.
- Insert the “overflow” line of the additive tank filling kit into the “overflow” container.
- Maintain the refueling kit in a horizontal position throughout this step.
- Use a suitable gearbox jack (or equivalent) to lift the additive container of the refueling kit above the ground height of the vehicle’s fuel additive tank.
- Caution: Prevent air infiltration in the filler neck pipe.
- Open the additive container valve of the refueling kit and refill the vehicle’s tank until additive liquid flows out of the “overflow” line, indicating that the tank is full.
- Note: If the additive canister of the refueling kit becomes empty during the process, close the canister, lower it, and disconnect the refueling line. Then, connect the refueling line to a new additive container, lift it, open the valve of the new container, and continue filling the tank.
- Close the additive container valve of the refill kit.
- Position the additive container of the refueling kit below the vehicle’s additive tank’s height from the ground to stop the liquid flow.
- Open the additive container valve of the fuel additive tank refueling kit to let the additive liquid flow back into the container, recovering any remaining additive in the refueling pipes.
- Disconnect the filler line from the fuel additive tank.
- Close the additive container valve of the refill kit.
- Secure the closing cap on the quick connect coupling of the fuel additive tank filler line.
- Remove the “overflow” line from the fuel additive tank.
- Replace the closing cap on the quick coupling fitting for the vehicle’s fuel additive tank “overflow” pipe.
- Lower the vehicle, and the refueling procedure is complete.
Remember, after filling the Ford C-MAX ’07 fuel additive tank, it’s essential to perform the fuel additive system reset procedure.
