If this force is not precise, it may cause problems because the screw/nut will loosen and the excess will break.

Before we begin working on our motorcycle, we must first understand the tightening torques, particularly those that are more critical, such as the brakes, chassis, and engine. These data are available for review in specialized forums or workshops. They are extremely important; for example, incorrectly adjusting the anchors of the brake caliper to the chassis can result in a serious accident and/or inconvenient engine operation.

Tightening torques differ between models, which is why the most critical ones are always specified in the manufacturer’s manual. If your model’s manual does not specify it, it never hurts to ask in a forum or specialized workshop. These options are crucial and have a significant impact. This force is measured using a special tool called a force torque meter.

HOW DOES A TORQUE WRENCH WORK?

The rotational force or torque with which the screw must be tightened is referred to as “tightening torque.” This force is multiplied by the distance (known as torque, force-distance) and expressed in this manner; in general, the newton-meter is the most commonly used (Nm). The user manual specifies the tightening torque for each screw. This torque takes into account a number of factors, including the thread, screw material, and screw function. This tightening value must be strictly adhered to. That’s what the torque wrench is for: making sure we’re applying the proper amount of torque. The torque wrench has a lock that pops out when we reach the required tightening; this prevents us from over-tightening.
