He got fully into the world of motors because he was doing very poorly at school because he had dyslexia, but at that time they did not predict it. In this way he spent his childhood between workshops until Ken Tyrrell learned of the Scotsman’s virtues and decided to call him because he ran a Formula Junior team.
Ken Tyrrell saw in Jackie Stewart a diamond in the rough since in the first races, the times that Stewart made surprised everyone.
Finally after this first experience, Jackie Stewart decided to move to Formula One, leaving Tyrrell behind.

His transition to Formula One was in 1965 at the hands of the BMR team, a team that supported the British who stood out in lower categories.
In his first year in this modality he had a great performance as he even won his first race at the Italian Monza circuit. In this first stage he surprised everyone because Steward was running against great figures of the stature of Clark or Graham Hill.

Already in the following season Jackie Stewart started with a victory in Monaco with what seemed like that year was going to promise. But the BRM started to have a lot of problems with what Stewart was in the seventh position. The same thing happened the following year in which he would place ninth in the world championship. Tired of the BRM he signed a contract with Matra, with whom he would remain for the next two seasons. The year 1969 was decisive for the pilot since it was his fifth season in Formula One and it seemed that the Scottish driver could surprise with a victory. And so it happened as he took the title of world champion. The vehicle with which he achieved victory was a Matra-Ford.

In the seventies he was called by Ken Tyrrell to be part of his team and he did.
In 1971, Jackie Stewart knew that this was a year in which he was under a lot of pressure, but he was also convinced that his car was very powerful, so he once again took first place in the World Championship.

However, the following year was not too good for the Scottish driver because Emerson Fittipaldi’s Lotus was unattainable and in that season Stewart suffered several ailments due to a duodenal ulcer that forced him to be absent from the world circuits.
But after his recovery, the year 1973 was again a year of triumph when he won the world title again when he was 34 years old; although on this occasion his joy was seconded by sadness as Jackie Stewart lost one of his best friends on the slopes: François Cevert.

After Cevert’s death, Stewart decided to leave the circuits forever.
His withdrawal was a great loss for car lovers as every time Stewart took to the track the show was served. Even so, Jackie Stewart managed 27 victories in Formula One, a record that was eventually surpassed by Alain Prost.

Jackie Stewart was recognized as one of the greatest drivers in the history of Formula One.

In fact, Stewart did not completely leave the circuits as he took over as President and CEO of the Jaguar Racing team.
He stood out not only for being a great driver but also for working as a vehicle builder.

Jackie Stewart continued to collect victories although not as a driver. One of them was the triumph of Johnny Herbert in the city of Nürbugring with a vehicle in which he had worked as a constructor.
Later this Scottish pilot has dedicated himself to traveling the world publicizing the image of Jaguar.
Thanks to his merits, he has even been named a Knight of the British Crown by Queen Elizabeth II, a pride for Jackie Stewart.

It is also necessary to highlight the contributions in the field of safety for which Jackie Stewart was fighting in Formula One. This was due to the fact that in the period between 1970 and 1973 pilots such as Bruce McLaren, Pedro Rodríguez, died on the track, Jochen Rindt, Piers Courage, Joseph Siffert and his great friend François Cevert. For this reason Steward began a crusade against the terrible security conditions with which most of the circuits were endowed. In addition, he himself suffered a serious accident in 1965 while running the Belgian Grand Prix. In the tragic event, 9 vehicles collided and Steward was trapped in his car with a broken collarbone for 30 minutes.

Jackie Stewart, three-time Formula One world champion, stood out not only for being a great driver but also for working as a vehicle manufacturer, for knowing how to sell his image and brand and for contributing to a fight in which the safety of the circuits and the lives of the pilots were their main and most valuable objectives.
