In fact, the two abbreviations (ECE or NAD) are clearly visible on the rim, even with the tire installed, including the homologation number, complete with anti-counterfeiting adhesive in the case of the latter. Is it always possible to fit rims of a different size than those of the manufacturer paper?

Being able to install larger rims (but also with a smaller diameter) on your car without having to ask the manufacturer for permission, as we said, is the biggest innovation introduced by the Wheels Decree.

However, it should be specified that this freedom only applies to NAD approved wheels. Fitting rims and tires of different sizes than the originals, in fact, is not allowed for UN / ECE approved wheels. The latter must maintain the dimensions provided by the manufacturers and be accompanied by an area of ​​use, namely the document that describes all the characteristics to be respected and the applications.

It is no coincidence, in fact, that we speak of special wheels when we refer to the NAD approved specimens.
