What kind of low beam lamps does FIAT PUNTO (1999 – 2003) have?
What kind of low beam lamps does FIAT PUNTO (1999 – 2003) have? All you need to know about the type of dipped beam bulbs that FIAT PUNTO (1999 – 2003) mounts, how to replace them and some tips on which to choose to have a xenon effect.
The FIAT PUNTO (1999 – 2003) is fitted with H1 type bulbs as low beam headlights.
If you have burnt out only one light bulb, the advice is to buy a new pair and replace them both, keeping the one still working as a spare. This is because the lamps are never the same (as long as you do not take lamps of the same brand and model) therefore, it is better to change them both to avoid having two slightly different shades. Sometimes even lamps of the same make and model but of different wear could be slightly different.
How to replace them?
Here is the procedure to correctly replace a H1 low beam bulb from FIAT PUNTO (1999 – 2003) :
- remove the hood by pushing the two levers on the grille;
- remove the rubber boot;
- locate the bulb location;
- remove the socket by holding it with your fingers on the ends and then release the spring by pushing it first inwards and then downwards;
- insert the new lamp;
- fit the socket back into the lighthouse housing;
- reposition the rubber boot.
Which ones to buy for long life and good visibility?
Remember that the lamps are very important, the advice is not to save on this component. Avoid of dubious origin.
The cost of these lamps is really low, so saving those few euros to buy a Chinese or cheap lamp is not really worth it. The difference in difficult conditions, for example on a dark road or with fog / rain, is really a lot of the same also as regards the duration and depth of the light.
